God is the great I am. He alone is transcendent, self-existent, from everlasting to everlasting. But He is also the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and Ruth, and you. The all sovereign God loves us, calls us by name. We see both His power and His love woven together in the story of Ruth, an obscure woman of Moab, and ancestor of David, and the Son of David.
